At the 1988 Seoul, South Korea Summer Olympic Games, Tae Kwon Do made its debut as an Olympic Games Demonstration Sport. Hundreds of adults and children performed their techniques in unison during the opening ceremony. Tae Kwon Do was again a demonstration sport at the 1992 Barcelona, Spain Summer Olympic Games. Tae Kwon Do became a full medal sport at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and continues to be a part of the Olympics today.

Milan Tae Kwon Do produces well-rounded martial artists that have an excellent understanding of all the aspects of Tae Kwon Do. That being said, we are very fond of the competition side of Tae Kwon Do, and we pride ourselves in the high level of training we provide to those students that feel the same.

Milan Tae Kwon Do offers training in the World TKD Federation (WTF) Olympic style sparring to adults and children. The first official Milan TKD Competition Team was formed in 2005. Over the last six years team members have competed in countless tournaments, including the USAT Junior Olympics and USAT National Championships. In 2007, the Milan TKD Competition Team combined with the Midwest Competition Team in Plymouth, MI. Today they are called the Wolfpack, and they continue to train together and travel throughout the United States to compete in tournaments and attend training seminars. Students have had the chance to train with Master Myang Sang Jang, Gold Medalist from Korea, Master Han Won Lee, 1988 Bronze Medalist and former USA Olympic Head Coach and 2000/2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Steven Lopez. In addition, they have attended training opportunities with Coach Sherman Nelson, Coach Eric Lauren, Coach Jason Poos and many more.

If you are interested in high level competition/training or just want to improve your sparring, Milan Tae Kwon Do will assist you in accomplishing your goals.

Team members work out Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays in Milan and Wednesdays & Saturdays at Midwest TKD in Plymouth (in addition to their regularly scheduled classes).
